Has anyone had experience of a speed camera going off randomly?

I was driving on the A40 last night, and on the 50mph west bound stretch near Heathrow, I was pulling into a parking bay to set my sat nav when the camera went off. I didn't notice any other cars around me.

And then about 100 yards down the road, the camera pointing the other direction went off on it's own too!

What's going on?!

I was on the M42 last year and a few of the cameras were doing the same . on the overhead signs it displayed , If the speed cameras flash randomly ignore , you will not be fined

Don't know why they were doing that , perhaps it was a test or they had just gone bonkers
